It can produce gains, and on some healthy standard vehicles those gains may feel noticeable, but it is still built around assumptions.

A custom remap is written around the individual vehicle in front of the tuner. That means the calibration can be adjusted to match the car or van’s current condition, the fuel type, the transmission, the driver’s goals, and any known limitations. If one engine pulls cleanly and another shows signs of boost inconsistency, fuelling imbalance or restricted airflow, they should not be treated as identical just because the badge and engine code match.

Why generic files can be hit and miss
